Antifreeze 5kg
OTHER CHEMICALSAntifreeze is a generic name for fluids that do not freeze at low temperatures. They are used in installations operating at low temperatures for cooling internal combustion engines, as aviation de-icing fluids and as a glass cleaner. Mixtures of ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, glycerin, monohydric alcohols and other substances with water are used as base fluids for antifreeze. Structure : automotive antifreezes, as a rule, consist of a mixture of water (about half of the composition) and ethylene glycol (less often propylene glycol, which, unlike ethylene glycol, is not toxic, but costs much more), as well as a package of additives that give antifreeze anti-corrosion (corrosion inhibitors), anti-cavitation , antifoam and fluorescent (to facilitate the search for leaks) properties. Pure ethylene glycol has a relatively high freezing point (−12.3 ° C), however, when mixed with water, it forms a so-called eutectic with a freezing point much lower than that of the components of the mixture separately, up to −75 ° C (for a mixture of 25% water and 75% ethylene glycol). With both higher and lower water contents, the mixture will have a higher freezing point; in practice, the freezing point is brought to the required by diluting the mixture with water as a cheaper component, therefore most commercial antifreezes contain more than 25% water (typically 35 to 50%). The natural appearance of most antifreezes is a clear, colorless liquid (the exception was some now-discontinued antifreezes with a dextrin-based additive package, which themselves had a dirty yellow color). However, dyes are added to modern antifreezes, giving them one or another color, which is not related to their operational properties and is the subject of agreement between the manufacturer and the consumer.
